Who We Are
Spierings Cancer Foundation is a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization that provides financial support to local families affected by cancer, enhances cancer treatment in our community, and funds cancer research in Wisconsin. Jim and Sue Spierings, from Little Chute, Wisconsin, created the foundation in 2009. After Jim won his battle with throat cancer, they decided to give back to the community who supported him during his battle. Over the past 16 years, the foundation has raised more than 2.5 MILLION dollars to support its mission of helping people affected by cancer, including over 1000 local families.
We raise money through our annual ROCK Cancer event held in August at Doyle Park in Little Chute Wisconsin. We also partner with local organizations and community members who host/organize fundraiser events that support our organization.
We are most proud of the fact that the 90% of the money raised is returned directly to our own community. We have a family grant program that identifies local families in need of financial support. 40% of the money raised is used to help those families. 30% of the money is used to support the local cancer centers by purchasing equipment and services. And finally, 20% of all money raised goes to support cancer research in the State of Wisconsin.
Spierings Cancer foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Its mission is to provide needed funds to three critical areas. Help families with financial support, enhance medical care in the Fox Valley, and fund research in Wisconsin.
What We Do
Spierings Cancer Foundation provides financial support to local families affected by cancer, enhances medical care for cancer patients in the Fox Cities and funds cancer research in Wisconsin. We are volunteer driven. Thus, all of our fundraising, planning, organizing, hosting, promoting, and family grant program are accomplished by community volunteers. We raise money by partnering with other organizations within our community that host/organize fundraisers to support our organization. Spierings Cancer Foundation hosts an annual fundraiser in August at Doyle Park in Little Chute Wisconsin, called ROCK Cancer. Our ROCK Cancer fundraiser includes a prayer service, 5K walk, music, kids activities, dunk tank, food/beverages, and raffles. We raise money through event activities, admission, sponsorships, donations, and merchandise sales. We are most proud of the fact that the 90% of the money raised is returned directly to our own community. We have a family grant program, where each year we work with Patient Navigators at local cancer centers to identify families in need of financial support. 40% of the money raised is used to help families. 30% of the money is used to support the local cancer centers by purchasing equipment and services. And finally, 20% of all money raised goes to support cancer research in the State of Wisconsin.
