Volunteer: Visit with older adults and offer encouragement, empowerment, and advocacy!The Board on Aging and Long Term Care is looking for amazing adults who are interested in improving the lives of local nursing home and assisted living facility residents! We are in need of Volunteer Ombudsmen for Winnebago and Outagamie Counties (but we also have many needs in most surrounding counties, too!!) So, what does a Volunteer Ombudsman do? These friendly visitors: are trained and supported by a local Volunteer Coordinator who is an expert in resident rights advocacy visit one local facility, get to know the residents living there, and become trusted, reliable, familiar faces educate residents about their rights by handing out Board on Aging and Long Term Care materials and info empower/support residents and their families to resove concerns or complaints offer to pass along concerns or issues from the resident to facility staff make life better for the elderly living in long term care facilities!This volunteer opportunity is very flexible! Nursing home visits can be made between the hours of 8am-8pm, any day of the week, and visits usually last between 1-3 hours each. Visits can vary each week - make your visits when it works for you!
