Volunteer: AASD is Looking for Adult Volunteers to Supervise AP Exams! The Appleton Area School District is looking for adult volunteers to supervise AP exams! Our students have worked hard to get to exam day to try to earn college credit with a passing score. Your role will be to supervise the room and pass out necessary materials. Our students test digitally on Chromebooks, and the room is a quiet space for up to 4 hours of testing. There is no technology troubleshooting for volunteers, as we have I.T. staff in the room. Volunteers provide scratch paper, tissues or water as needed, and monitor hallways for bathroom trips. Please wear comfortable shoes, as we try to eliminate noise in the room. Volunteer: Volunteers Needed for Appleton High School Students for Reality CheckAppleton Area School District and Community First Credit Union are once again partnering to bring Reality Check to Appleton schools. Reality Check is a financial education simulation that provides high school students with hands-on life experience in budgeting while giving them a fun and safe environment to learn how financial choices and career selections can impact their future. After completing Reality Check, students consistently respond that their attitude about money has changed. They report leaving with a more realistic understanding of the cost of living and an improved sense of being financially prepared for the future. The reason this works so well for students is they learn first-hand from the experience of community business representatives like yourself. Reality Check volunteers play an important part in the simulation, explaining options to students, helping them make selections and taking “payments” where necessary. This eye-opening experience for young people isn’t possible without the generous assistance of community members like you. Can we count on you to help our area students? Dates, times and locations are as follows: Appleton North - Tuesday, April 14 from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.Appleton West- Thursday, April 16 from 7:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Appleton East - Tuesday, April 21 from 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.Please consider joining us as a table host volunteer to assist students for one or more of the dates. Volunteer: Walking School Bus Volunteers NeededWalking School Bus assistants and substitute volunteers needed! What is a Walking School Bus? A Walking School Bus (WSB) is a safe, fun, and healthy way for children to walk to school together with the guidance of caring adult volunteers. Students get fresh air and exercise, while families enjoy peace of mind knowing their children are supervised along the way. How It Works: A group of children meet at a set location and walk to school together on a planned route. Adult volunteers (parents, staff, or community members) walk with the group, helping keep everyone safe and together. The walk usually takes about 20–30 minutes, depending on the route. The WSB runs rain or shine (except in unsafe weather conditions). Volunteer Details: Volunteers can commit to one or more days per week, or serve as a substitute when a leader is unavailable. No experience is needed—just a willingness to walk and supervise students. A brief training will be provided. Time commitment is minimal, but the positive impact is huge! Why Volunteer?
