Volunteer: Breakfast Host at Pillars Adult & Family Shelter

Purpose: The Breakfast Host provides breakfast services each morning as clients leave shelter for the day. The Breakfast Host can utilize donated items in shelter, such as produce, leftovers, eggs, cereals, oatmeal and pastries, or they can choose to provide & prepare a hot breakfast for clients. The Breakfast Host allows the Shelter Client Advocates freedom to provide individual case management to the 55+ clients in shelter and focus on other aspects of shelter operation in the early morning hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide & prepare their own hot meal for clients Ensure that the breakfast buffet is kept full throughout the morning Clean-up the kitchen area and run dishes through the dishwasher Train new volunteers as they are onboarded

Shift Times:

Monday - Friday, 5:30 - 7:30am Saturday & Sunday, 7 - 9am

Volunteer: Lunch Provider

Pillars Adult Shelter received grant funding to keep the Adult Shelter open on the weekends so that our clients have access to Pillars services 7 days a week, 24 hours a day! Since we are now open over lunch on Saturdays and Sundays, we are in need of YOUR help as a Lunch Provider!  

Lunch Providers make 30 lunches for our clients on Saturday OR Sunday, to be delivered between 11:15am - 12pm (we are able to be flexible on the timing if needed)!  
Lunches can be as simple as a PB & J sandwich with a side (chips, applesauce, etc.) and a fruit/veggie. It could also be something more complex - totally up to you and your ability!  
 
*Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate off-site. Any volunteers making a meal or delivering a meal to the Adult Shelter must be 18 or older.

Provide donation intake assistance Store donations in their proper storage areas Date and rotate donations, including non-perishable food donations Assist staff with filling other critical volunteer roles as needed during volunteer’s shift Adult & Family Shelter Only Tasks: Fill voucher request for clients by accessing donation storage throughout shelter Sort mail for clients Adult Shelter Only Tasks: Prepare bagged lunches for clients working the following day Serve worker’s trays (leftovers) for clients that arrive after dinner, following work or appointments Assist with shelter & client laundry
