Volunteer: Socialize Service Dogs in TrainingJourney Together is a prison dog program that trains service dogs to help people with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Our dogs spend the majority of their time being trained by inmates at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution. However, to have the skills needed to be a successful service dog, our puppies need exposure to public places and events. Volunteers schedule times that work in their schedule to take the dogs to locations for public access and exposure. Grocery stores, department stores, youth events, parks and restaurants are all examples of places the dogs need to experience. Our volunteers select the dates and times that fit their lifestyle. JTSD provides orientation and training to new volunteers and ongoing training opportunities as well as group outings.
