Objective:
Provide accurate and courteous information and directions to the traveling and general public visiting Appleton International Airport (ATW); provide information about the Airport’s facilities, amenities, and services; provide escorts as needed and coordinate any assistance that may be needed to move people through the Airport.
General Qualifications:
- A commitment to support the mission of the Appleton International Airport volunteer program and the Airport
- The ability to stand for part or all of a shift; will be required to do some walking and pushing of wheel chairs. Those with physical restrictions will be accommodated as much as possible
- Commit to volunteer for a minimum of 4 hour shifts per week
- Be able to lift 50 lbs such as suite case or luggage
- Be reliable, efficient, and committed to providing exceptional customer service
- Be able to keep cool and calm under duress and effectively handle complaints and difficult situations (missed or cancelled flights, delays, lost items, etc)
- Be able to work cooperatively and courteously with diverse groups of people
- Have good communication skills and the ability to work independently
- Be able to pass a background check
- Current Airport employees may volunteer, however, the performance of regular job duties during volunteer hours are prohibited
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Welcome visitors and provide accurate and courteous information about the Airport facilities, services and amenities
- Help accommodate airport visitors’ special needs, such as providing traveler escorts or wheel chair assistance
- Work in assigned areas including but not limited to: baggage claim, pre-screening, post-screening, parking lot area
- Keep current on airport information and changes
- Provide support for special events
- Ensure the information desk is stocked with relevant brochures, magazines, etc
- Participate in orientation and training programs
- Wear the required uniform and project a positive and professional image
