Volunteer: National Rebuilding Day - Fox Cities

National Rebuilding Month began in 1973 in Midland, TX when neighbors came together to repair homes for those who needed a hand. What started as “Christmas in April” grew into Rebuilding Together — a nationwide movement that now mobilizes volunteers year-round to make homes and community spaces safe, healthy, and welcoming.

Here in Northeast Wisconsin, Rebuilding Together Fox Valley brings that spirit to life through National Rebuilding Day. Many nonprofits struggle to find funding to repair or refresh their spaces — and that’s where volunteers make an incredible difference. By teaming up with local businesses and community members, we roll up our sleeves and transform spaces that serve our neighbors every day.

Big news for 2026: we’re expanding the impact with a new Green Bay National Rebuilding Day! We’re honored to continue the legacy of Rebuilding Together Greater Green Bay in a fresh and exciting way.

Volunteer: JA Finance Park Volunteer - Help students understand budgeting

The JA Finance Park program teaches financial literacy to students in grades 7th-12th. They complete 12 lessons in the classroom with their teacher at school prior to their visit with us where they will put their learning to the test in our budgeting simulation. This program teaches essential skills in personal finance that lead to a lifetime of financial peace.

Volunteers to work with a small group of students for the day, leading discussions and sharing your personal experiences. Students receive a life scenario, income, and credit rating with which they apply for loans, create a budget, and then try to live within that budget. Students gain a lot of eye-opening knowledge about how much things cost and how to live within their means. This is a great opportunity to facilitate hands on learning and ideal for anyone with a passion for financial literacy that enjoys working with students. Training is provided each day prior to student arrival.

We need up to 12 volunteers each day that students are on site. This is a one-day opportunity with many dates in the 25-26 school year to choose from.

Contact ssniegowski@jawis.org to sign up or for more information.  Thank you for your consideration!

Volunteer: Help a Child - Become a Mentor

The Outagamie County Mentoring Program works with the youth in the community who need us the most. We match kids with adults who help them out just by being a friend and spending a few hours a month together. A successful match is life changing for both the mentor and mentee! The youth in our program are between 6-17 years old and have been referred by a social worker from Outagamie County Health and Human Services.

With 30 kids currently on waiting list,  we have a great need for more volunteer mentors.  Mentor matches spend a minimum of 4 hours a month together developing a positive and trusting relationship the youth can rely on. Mentors expose youth to new and positive experiences that enhance self esteem and improve social skills. We find that many mentors enjoy getting to be a kid again with their mentee!

If you mentor with Outagamie County, you will receive all the training and support you need to make your match successful. We sponsor several events each year for our matches and also reimburse for mileage.

Find and follow us on Facebook!  Check out our website www.outagamie.org/mentoring .

Email us at: hhsmentors@outagamie.org or call 920-832-5961. We'd love to hear from you!

Volunteer: On-Call Volunteer Advocate

Reach Counseling provides crisis intervention and emotional support 24/7 to survivors of sexual assault and their friends/family with the help of Volunteer Victim Advocates. Volunteer Advocates are on call nights, weekends, and holidays when the Reach office is closed. Reach is also seeking Volunteer Advocates to help us secure coverage from 7am-5pm Monday - Friday.

Volunteer Advocates are trained to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, information and resources to survivors of sexual abuse and assault in Winnebago County. Advocates work alongside medical and legal professionals to ensure survivors are supported while navigating these processes, reducing further trauma and re-victimization while tending to a survivor’s emotional needs.

Advocates will work with nurses and law enforcement to provide wrap-around, compassionate care while a survivor receives a forensic exam and/or gives a statement to the police. Advocates respond to Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh and occasionally ThedaCare in Appleton when the survivor is from Winnebago County.

Advocates must have a driver's license, car insurance and vehicle while on call. Advocates take calls through their own phones and never have to be at the Reach office while on call. Advocates must be aware they will hear details of sexual abuse and assault and should know how hearing these stories will impact them. Volunteer: Remote Volunteer Work for Aurora Health Care

Are you interested in making a positive impact on inpatients in our hospitals without leaving your home?

We would love to have you on our team!  We are looking for volunteers to call inpatients while in the hospital to welcome them to our care, relay visitation guidelines and inquire how their stay has been.

Concierge Admission Program (CAP) include the following tasks for volunteers:

Remotely, volunteers call patients using a well-developed script and introduce themselves, inquire how their patient experience has been since they arrived and explains the hospitals visitation guidelines. Volunteers inquire with patients if their emergency contact would like us to call to explain visitation guidelines and to ensure they have patient’s room phone number/nurse unit phone number. If yes, volunteers will place these calls. If/when patients relay needs or concerns, we connect with nursing staff at the end of the patient call to assist in real time with the need/concern. If/when patients recognize staff for providing exceptional care, we send recognition emails to the staff members with a copy to their leader.

Advocate Aurora computer access is provided for all volunteers.

Training consists of 4-6 hours. Volunteers will learn to place and conduct patient calls with the guidance of our training coordinator, and when the volunteer feels confident with the call script and all questions/concerns are answered, they may begin to make calls on their own.

Hours of operation: Mon-Fri – any timeframe from 8:30am-7pm (Days and hours to volunteer are flexible.)  Commitment is a minimum of six months.

Volunteer: Board of Directors Member

CASA of the Fox Cities seeks interested members for its Board of Directors. Although previous Board membership experience is not required, we do prefer someone who has had some volunteer involvement with a nonprofit agency (committee work, for example).

Our current board member needs are for an individual who has previous experience in marketing/public relations/advertising, as well as an individual with a background in fundraising or sales.

We also encourage the involvement of men and all individuals from diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds to assist us.

A passion for CASA's mission of assisting abused/neglected children within local courts is essential.

Board meetings are held at the CASA office from 5 to 7 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month, except for November and December, when it it held on the third Tuesday to avoid holidays. Board members are also required to serve on one of several committees, which carry out the work of the agency. Volunteer: Walking School Bus Volunteers Needed

Walking School Bus assistants and substitute volunteers needed!

What is a Walking School Bus?

A Walking School Bus (WSB) is a safe, fun, and healthy way for children to walk to school together with the guidance of caring adult volunteers. Students get fresh air and exercise, while families enjoy peace of mind knowing their children are supervised along the way.

How It Works:

A group of children meet at a set location and walk to school together on a planned route.

Adult volunteers (parents, staff, or community members) walk with the group, helping keep everyone safe and together.

The walk usually takes about 20–30 minutes, depending on the route.

The WSB runs rain or shine (except in unsafe weather conditions).

Volunteer Details:

Volunteers can commit to one or more days per week, or serve as a substitute when a leader is unavailable.

No experience is needed—just a willingness to walk and supervise students.

A brief training will be provided.

Time commitment is minimal, but the positive impact is huge!

Why Volunteer?
This is a low-commitment, high-impact way to support students and school safety. Plus, it’s a fun way to connect with kids and the school community!

Volunteer: Socialize Service Dogs in Training

Journey Together is a prison dog program that trains service dogs to help people with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).  Our dogs spend the majority of their time being trained by inmates at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution.  However, to have the skills needed to be a successful service dog, our puppies need exposure to public places and events.

Volunteers schedule times that work in their schedule to take the dogs to locations for public access and exposure.  Grocery stores, department stores, youth events, parks and restaurants are all examples of places the dogs need to experience.  Our volunteers select the dates and times that fit their lifestyle.

JTSD provides orientation and training to new volunteers and ongoing training opportunities as well as group outings.
