Work alongside World Relief Education Services to empower new arrivals coming to the Fox Valley area. These mentor roles were created to provide more in-depth education around various skills to promote self-sufficiency. Topics to teach include WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), Digital Literacy, Public Transportation, Home Cleanliness and Safety, Job Readiness, Health Support, and English Tutoring.

Prior to volunteering you will be required to fill out a volunteer application that can be found here. After we receive your application, you will be added to our email list and will be contacted with next steps.

Journey Together is a prison dog program that trains service dogs to help people with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).  Our dogs spend the majority of their time being trained by inmates at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution.  However, to have the skills needed to be a successful service dog, our puppies need exposure to public places and events.

Volunteers schedule times that work in their schedule to take the dogs to locations for public access and exposure.  Grocery stores, department stores, youth events, parks and restaurants are all examples of places the dogs need to experience.  Our volunteers select the dates and times that fit their lifestyle.

JTSD provides orientation and training to new volunteers and ongoing training opportunities as well as group outings.

Join us and become a driving force for positive change in the community! Outagamie County provides volunteer drivers to help DHHS clients (children and adults) stay connected by providing transportation for rides to appointments such as child visitation, therapy, and other necessary appointments. There are both local and out of county trips available. Drivers choose what rides they want to pick up and therefore set their own schedule. Mileage reimbursement at the federal rate is provided. Your commitment can make a world of difference to someone who lacks the support they deserve! Often a family member or friend will take on guardianship, however, some people do not have relatives or friends available, willing, or able to take on these responsibilities and those people need your help. Outagamie County Volunteer Services recruits community members who are willing to take on these responsibilities and match them with a person in need. Instead of people being seen as a client of a company, they are seen as a person who has someone who cares. Guardians may be in charge of the person or estate or both and will be matched based on the volunteer's preference. You will make decisions regarding the person's well-being, health, and financial interests. Guardians are court appointed so this is a long term commitment. Mileage reimbursement is available at the federal rate and the work can be completed around your schedule. Keep families connected! A volunteer family interaction supervisor monitors visits between children in alternate care and their parents. The volunteer’s role is to supervise the visit, making sure it is safe and productive. The supervisor is part of the team. You will take notes during the visit and share them with the case worker and coordinator. Transporting the child and/or parent to and from the visits is also part of the job in most cases. Visits are held at a site determined by the social worker and family and may be at the department, in the community, or in a home. Visits take place during the day, evenings, or weekends. The volunteer’s schedule is flexible and determined by the hours you want to work and the assignments you accept from the volunteer coordinator. Once a case is accepted, the schedule is consistent. Mileage reimbursement at the federal rate is available. Help strengthen our community's ability to assist families in crisis and create a ripple effect of positive change!

Volunteers would be expected to maintain strict confidentiality, communicate with the assigned social worker, and complete paperwork in a timely fashion.  The families assigned to a volunteer have been screened and have been determined appropriate to be supervised by a volunteer. Valley VNA is seeking a volunteer to assist with painting projects both inside and outside of our facility. This includes painting interior walls as well as outdoor trim and pillars. Your time and effort will help brighten the space for residents and staff alike!

Assist staff in taking care of patients and loved ones throughout the duration of their appointments at the Regional Cancer Center.

If you have expertise repairing common household items, we could use your help! The library and community members are staring at Fix-It Clinic which will be held three or four times per year with the next one occuring in October. At this clinic, the community is encouraged to bring in their household items for repair. Our team of volunteer experts will fix the items for them, showing them the process and troubleshooting steps along the way. 

We are currently in need of a volunteer with expertise in repairing jewelry!

Volunteers can assist with training and coaching. Sports offered are basketball, bowling, swimming, bocce ball, track & field, tee-ball, and softball.  Day and time needs vary with each sport, but we do ask you to commit to helping for that particular season. Typically this is once a week, for about 2 hours, for 2-3 months.

Help young readers grow! Join the Page Turners program and support youth, grades K-3, build reading confidence and proficiency. Volunteers work one-on-one, helping with reading practice and encouragement. By fourth grade, students who cannot read proficiently are on the high school dropout track. The ability to read by the end of third grade is essential to increasing the number of children who succeed academically, graduate on time, and do well in life and the workforce. 

No teaching experience needed - just patience, positivity, and a passion for literacy. Flexible scheduling makes it easy to get involved.

The Outagamie County Nutrition Program serves meals to individuals who are 60+ years old. Meals are served in two different settings: congregate and home-delivered. Congregate meals are offered at five different locations: Hortonville, Kaukauna, Oneida Heights (Appleton), Seymour, and the Mary Beth Nienhaus Activity Center (Appleton). Home-delivered meals are offered throughout Outagamie County.

CBC volunteers have a passion for supporting our communities and caring for others!

Blood Drive Registration is one way that you can help at the Community Blood Center. The only real “job requirement” is a personal desire to help others. Volunteer orientation and training are provided.  As a Registration Attendant, you will value and appreciate our donors, and ensure they review the online blood donation materials and complete their personal health history questionnaire, prior to their blood donation. NO medical experienced required.

Volunteer opportunities are available on a variety of days, times, and locations, and there is no minimum or maximum number of hours for volunteering. Do you love talking to people and saving lives in the process? Then volunteering at The Community Blood Center is the place for you!

As a volunteer at our Little Chute site, you both check-in blood donors for their appointments and serve donors refreshments. The goal of the role is to welcome donors and ensure that donors are feeling well and healthy after their donation. 

The only real “job requirement” is a personal desire to help others. This position is such a rewarding one as you are taking care of our donors to ensure they have a great experience and look forward to their next visit.

We have openings at our fixed-site donor centers as well as our mobile drives throughout the Fox Valley and Northeastern Wisconsin. There is no minimum number of hours you need to complete. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

We are looking for a sweet therapy dog who you think would do well with visiting with our hospice patients. Under our pet therapy program, your specially trained dog would be able to provide companionship to our patients. Pet companionship can bring our patients a sense of peace, comfort and trust.

Dog temperament requirements:

Pet therapy volunteer program requirements: Owner must complete patient volunteer orientation.

Pet and owner must be registered with a nationally recognized animal organization (see below). Acceptable Therapy Dog Registration Organizations: Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Inc, Pet Partners, and Therapy Dogs International.

With that, we're seeking a volunteer to teach this class one evening per week for 1 to 1.5 hours.

No need to know any other languages or for teaching experience. We provide training, materials, guidance, and ongoing support.

We are seeking a new leader for our Y-Not Chorus Group. The Y-Not Chorus is a group comprised of senior adults all with various singing abilities that want to share their love of music with others. Their main purpose is to bring joy to those is assisted living environments by providing musical performances. The group typically practices on Friday's at Gloria Dei Church in Neenah, with various performances throughout the year, especially during the holidays.

The leader of this group would be in charge of conducting, working with the pianist to choose musical selections, as well as working with the rest of the group to determine schedule and performance dates. Binder of sheet music and lyrics provided. Currently, the group practices and performs mainly in Neenah, with various performances throughout the Fox Valley.

Help decorate bulletin boards in our child care center at the Neenah-Menasha YMCA: bring your creativity and love of teaching/children to our walls!! Also, help hang-up/take-down student artwork in our classrooms. 

Childcare volunteers must be 14 years old or older. Volunteers must enjoy working with kids and have strong boundaries. Our childcare program runs Mon-Thurs. nights from 6-8pm and Saturdays from 1-3pm. Volunteers sign up for any shifts that work in their lives. Help is especially needed Mon. & Tues. nights because of support groups that run at the same time. We are looking for Veterans who interested in providing companionship to our Veteran hospice patients. For many Veterans, the opportunity to share their stories can be fulfilling and often contributes a sense of fellowship, life closure and peace. If the volunteer is a Veteran, the sharing can be all that more powerful. Veterans may want to share their stories with someone who understands what they went through. They feel connected by hearing other Veteran stories. They gain validation and understanding in a very special way from another Veteran.

We are looking for compassionate, kind, and caring individuals who would like to visit our patients and provide companionship. As a hospice volunteer you could: Read a book to them, watch movies, and socialize as if they were a long-time friend.

Volunteer visits typically are done once or twice per week for 1-2 hours at a time.

Visits are completed where the patient lives. This includes private homes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.

Be part of our awesome decon team!  This group goes into homes or businesses that will be remodeled or torn down and salvages items that can be sold at Habitat ReStore or recycled.  For example, one of our most common decon projects is to take out a kitchen from a home that will be getting a new kitchen.  We then sell that old kitchen set at ReStore.  All funds get funneled back into various Habitat housing solution programs locally.  

Join us and aid in the artful removal of donations from residential and commercial buildings! Help remove a full kitchen set or empty out a retail store! All salvaged items are then brought to and sold at the ReStore to raise funds  for Habitat for Humanity.

Deconstructions are typically scheduled Monday, Wednesdays from 8am-12pm.

TIME COMMITMENT: 4 to 6 hours a month, subject to change depending on number of families in need

To assist with the Rental and Online Resale/Re-purpose Store of E-commerce
or rental items. Includes taking pictures, pricing, and
positioning of items along with downloading them onto the e-commerce
apps.
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of computer, social media platforms and can learn quickly.
TIME COMMITMENT: Some duties can be done at home and some
need to be done at the Celebration Center.
AGE: 18 and up

We have equipment that we use at each of our family’s fundraisers or
rental items that at times need to be repaired, painted, or created. Along with
re-purposing of items to sell in our Online store. We need individuals
who are good with either fixing things and/or good with building/
working with wood, crafty, like to paint, etc…

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of painting, mechanical, crafty, creative
and good with wood would be helpful but required.

TIME COMMITMENT: Assist as needed basis for specific projects/
repairs.
AGE: 16 and up

Volunteer at Celebration of Support events assisting with raffles, silent auctions, kids games, bake sale, serving food, grilling, etc. Volunteer opportunities would depend on the day and type of the event.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Wisconsin matches an adult volunteer mentor with a young person who WANTS a mentor in their life. Matches are made based on compatibility and interests. You will enjoy friendship and fun with your Little!

The kids are between the ages of 6-18 years old. Matches meet 2 times per month up to 4 times per month.  

In the community-based program, matches enjoy get togethers that do not require spending a lot of money. Matches do things like get outdoors, play some sports, take bike rides and walks, head to the nature center, play board games and cards, cook and bake together, build things, go to community activities around town, attend free library programs, come to our BBBS events, and just talk and laugh. 

The site-based program happens on a weekly basis at the Little's school during their lunch break. Matches eat together, play games, work on puzzles or art projects, talk and share photos, and enjoy the time together becoming friends. Matches only meet when school is in session.

Mentors must be 18 years old and plan to be matched at least one year.

The Appleton YMCA-Service Club meets twice per month (September through April) at the Appleton YMCA. Members develop a program schedule, which includes community speakers, Y staff presentations orienting members to Y programs, social events and planning fundraising events to help the YMCA support innovative, impactful programming for youth, adults and families. Projects include: Childcare Playground projects (May/June), Camp Clean-ups (May/August), Christmas Tree Sale (November/December), and Pancake Breakfast (February). 

Appleton, Fox West, Heart of the Valley and Neenah-Menasha YMCA locations are looking for your help! Youth Sports Coaches provide skill development in a variety of sport leagues. Work with our youth to instill our character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Provide these young athletes with a good role model for sportsmanship and teamwork. Sports include: Baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer, t-ball, track and field and volleyball.

League days include Saturdays and/or weeknights, 2-6 hours per week for 6-8 week sessions. Background check is required. 

Purpose: Act as a point of contact for clients, staff, donors, and other community members. Essential to the operation of Pillars, the Front Desk Assistant greets visitors & clients, answers & directs phone calls, monitors the lobby, provides donation intake & assistance, along with other administrative tasks as needed.

Purpose: Shelter Assistants act as supplemental support to staff at both Pillars shelters. While Shelter Assistants are providing support throughout shelter for staff, Crisis Housing staff can provide one-on-one support to clients and provide intake interviews for incoming individuals & families.

SVDP Neenah welcomes court-ordered community service. Background checks will be performed. Registered sex offenders and anyone with retail theft in the last 5 years will not be allowed to volunteer. SVDP reserves the right to deny any application. 

Complete your service hours in our friendly store. You will receive and tour and a small orientation on the first day of volunteering. From there you will be allowed to chose what department you complete your hours in. We strive to make completing your court order hours as smooth and enjoyable as we can. St. Vincent de Paul accepts donations Monday through Saturday. We are looking for volunteers to help sort incoming donations into their following departments. Saturday hours are 9:00am-3:00pm and Monday-Friday is 9:00am–5:00pm. A minimum shift would be 2-3 hours.

At CASA of the Fox Cities, we'll teach you how to advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. If you are a good communicator who wants good things for children, this could be an excellent opportunity to truly make an impact. No special experience is required. We provide initial and ongoing training and support. 

As a CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocate, you will be part of a team of people advocating for the safety and well-being of youth and children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

One of the most important results of your service is laying the foundation for resilience. Your continued presence in their lives tells them they are worthy of your time and attention. This feeling of worth is the building block of resilience that will help them overcome adverse childhood experiences.

Statistics show that the presence of just one consistent adult helps children who have experienced trauma. Could you be that person?

The best way to discover if advocacy could be right for you is to check out our website and attend an information session. These one-hour sessions are held remotely via Zoom. You will learn about our organization, and things to consider about becoming an advocate including training, how much time you’ll need, and so on.

Are you looking for ways to put your handyman talents and tools to work?  We'd love it if you shared these with Covey.  We often have the need to complete small maintenance/home repair tasks--anything from hanging a curtain rod, to installing a smoke detector, to fixing that dripping faucet.  We'd welcome some help for an hour or two every month and can be very flexible about when that hour or two takes place.  

Fox Cities Festival of Lights is a nonprofit who creates the large walk through holiday light display at Darboy Community Park.  Most of our displays are built by our volunteers.  We need help fixing some existing ones and help building new displays.  

Don't worry, you don't need any experience.  We can teach you.  We do a wide variety of work including carpentry, welding, general assembly and others.  Did you know that all the lights get taped to the displays individually?  Yes we do that too.  It is a lot of fun believe it or not!  We work during the entire offseason to get this accomplished.  If you are interested let us know.  Thank you!

The Community Blood Center is looking for volunteers who can assist with duties like organizing blood drive materials, taking inventory of promotional items, folding event T-shirts, packing snack bins, decorating Holiday floats, assisting with large seasonal drives (MASH and Holiday Drives) and so much more!

We are looking for volunteers to call when we need support one-off events including but not limited to the events above. We have no minimum requirement for time. Training is provided.

Our donors are our number one priority, and you can make sure they are treated as such! As a Café Attendant, you arrange the snacks, juice, coffee, and water available for donors once they have completed their donation. You also converse with the donors and ensure they are feeling healthy post-donation. This position is such a rewarding one as you are taking care of our donors to ensure they have a great experience and want to return! 

We have openings at our fixed-site donor centers as well as our mobile drives throughout the Fox Valley and Northeastern Wisconsin. There is no minimum number of hours you need to complete. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Platelet donation offers an extra-special gift at a time when a patient needs it most.

Platelets are the component of blood that controls our bleeding, which means that when stopping the loss of blood is critical – in transplant recipients, in cancer patients, during traumatic injuries – platelets answer the call. They collect at the site of an injury to help in the formation of clots, which then allows the wound to heal.

Adding to their importance is the fact that they have a short shelf life, which means that they must be replenished continually. Thankfully, since our own body restores this blood component so rapidly, platelet donors can make a donation every seven days.

A platelet donation, from registration to cookies, takes about 2 hours.

How often can I donate platelets?

Donors are eligible to donate platelets every 7 days. The average platelet donor donates 5x per year.

How does this donation differ from a blood donation?

The specific machine used for this type of donation collects platelets, a component of blood. Red blood cells and plasma, in addition to saline fluid, are returned to the donor during this process.

Who receives platelets?

Hematology, oncology, cardiac surgeries, and trauma victims are some of the patients who may receive platelets.

Is donating platelets safe?

Yes. All materials are sterile and used only once. CBC follows FDA standards and protocols. Safety is a top priority in all we do.

High school blood donors are extremely important in supporting the needs of local hospitals and patients. In fact, high school blood donors account for as much as 10% of The Community Blood Center’s overall blood donations.

So what is the Gallon Grad program? This unique program is about more than just blood donation. It’s about helping others understand why blood donation is so important and to encourage others to make it a lifesaving habit as well. More blood donors means that we can help more patients. High school students join Gallon Grad as a way to give back to their community through donating, volunteering or encouraging others to donate.

In short, it’s both the first step in creating a life-long passion for blood donation and an opportunity to reward high school students who play a critical role in supporting their local community.

With almost 20 boys waiting to be matched with adult mentors, we have an immediate need for male volunteers willing to be positive role models for kids! At the Outagamie County Mentoring Program, we work with the youth in the community who need us the most. We match kids with adults who help them out just by being a friend and spending a few hours a month together. A successful match is life changing for both the mentor and mentee! All of the youth in our program are between 6-17 years old and have been referred by a social worker from Outagamie County Health and Human Services.

Mentor matches spend about 4-8 hours a month together to develop a positive and trusting relationship the youth can rely on. Mentors expose youth to new and positive experiences that enhance self esteem and improve social skills. We find that many mentors enjoy getting to be a kid again with their mentee!

If you mentor with Outagamie County, you will receive all the training and support you need to make your match successful. We sponsor several events each year for our matches and also reimburse for mileage.

Grandview Townhomes is a property under the Appleton Housing Authority, and it could use your help to look its best! We need volunteers to help the Appleton Housing Authority tidy up the landscaping and grounds of Grandview Townhomes, both for our residents and those passing by.

Riverwalk Place is a property of Appleton Housing Authority specifically made and tailored for seniors and their comfort. By helping the Appleton Housing Authority clean up the landscaping, we can give these beautiful homes a serene and naturally beautiful place.

Be a part of our largest and most in-need-of-help department. Apparel is always plentiful and you can help at various stages of processing. Each piece is checked four times for quality. the First in donations, second by the apparel supervisor, third by the price processors, and the last time by the rack runners. This process allows us to keep our overflowing sales floor stocked with the best clothes for the community. Thankfully NO clothes are sent to the landfill that comes through Svdp.  

Price Processing- If you enjoy working around others and the idea of tagging clothes then price processing, offers a friendly setting. When you work in price processing you sit at an apparel station where you take carts that are separated by price and tag and hang the clothes on a hanger by size. These stations are in the center of the warehouse and a social hub. Some math is required at times but we will train you. 

Rack runners- Do you like to keep moving? Organizing and color coding? Rack runners take racks of pre-priced clothes and merchandise them on the sales floor. Rack runners also help to maintain the dressing rooms and return racks. This is a great option for anyone who loves clothes and enjoys social interactions. Rack runners spend the most time on the sales floor and therefore they get to know the customers. 

We need volunteers to help with lawn care, helping to maintain our bird and butterfly gardens and horse paddocks, general maintenance, and other work in and around the barn.

We are in need of volunteers willing to come in weekly to do our residents fingernails.  No cutting or trimming required, just filing and painting.

Volunteer tour guides (we use the National Park Service term "docent") are expected to memorize material written on Hearthstone Historic House to provide an approximately 60–75-minute tour to visitors of the museum. Docents will be given a guide plus other interactive tools to get them acquainted with the history of the museum, and to present different historical topics about the house in each of its different themed rooms. Tours are mostly targeted towards adult visitors but may also occasionally include school-aged group tours. An ideal volunteer docent is interested in the early history of Hearthstone and the Fox Cities, enjoys public speaking, and is willing to provide tours in an informative, yet entertaining format!

Volunteer greeters will assist visitors of Hearthstone Historic House Museum by welcoming them into the museum, helping customers pay admissions with our POS system, and organizing visitors into an upcoming tour group. Other responsibilities of a greeter include answering questions customers may have upon arriving, answering the phone, if applicable, and helping customers pay for gift shop items. Volunteers require minimal previous experience for the greeter position and will be trained alongside another experienced greeter for multiple shifts. An ideal volunteer greeter is friendly, welcoming, and willing to be the first face visitors of the museum see!

We are in need of outreach committee members. Our outreach committee is responsible for education the community on community resources, sheltering, and pets. Outreach members should have experience handling animals and would preferably spend some time volunteering IN the shelter each week to become familiar with our animals. As an outreach committee member, you will work behind the scenes, preparing for events, and then will also help out at the events. LEAVEN receptionists serve as the voice and face of LEAVEN to everyone who calls or walks through our doors. Volunteers serve at least one 3-hour shift/week between the hours of 9am-7pm, Monday-Friday. Receptionists must be comfortable answering the phone, communicating with clients in-person, and using computers.

LEAVEN interviewers must be kind, compassionate listeners willing to help our clients feel comfortable detailing their request for assistance. Volunteers serve at least one 3-hour shift/week between the hours of 9am-7pm, Monday-Friday. Interviewers serve a key role in LEAVEN's ability to provide emergency financial assistance to those most in need in our community.

Candidates must be independent, physically able to push wheelchairs & to attend the events with the residents. This would not be compatible for community service hour requirements.

Here at The Grand, the goal of our volunteers is to be attentive hosts who help patrons to have a pleasant and comfortable experience by being friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and eager to meet their needs.

Volunteers give their time at every performance The Grand presents; they are often seen ushering patrons to their seats, checking coats, taking tickets, and filling other various roles. There is no minimum amount of time volunteers are required to give, but every hour is appreciated!

With the operation of the LEAVEN Community Resource Center, our need for volunteers to serve as caseworkers has increased. We have an immediate need to fill 7 regular shifts (a 3 hour per week commitment). You can experience the joy of telling someone help is available while getting the satisfaction of providing people with a plan to move out of poverty. 

LEAVEN caseworkers investigate, document and verify requests for assistance surrounded by the built-in support system of other caseworkers and LEAVEN staff. You can start small, learn one aspect of the role at a time and build from there!

It's that time of year again where we need to start thinking about... snow!

We have a snow removal service that takes care of our driveways and parking lot, but we could use a list of a few people willing to be on-call to come shovel or blow out the areas in front of our doors.
