Needs From: Get Connected - Volunteer Fox Cities

Provide patients with socialization and comfort items to make their stay more enjoyable. Volunteers will take a cart to the patient room, visit with patients and offer them an item from the cart. It will be stocked with personal care items, puzzle books and things to help them pass the time.

Some duties include:

Greet patients and visitorsProvide a comfortable, compassionate atmosphereProvide excellent customer service and assist patients with selection of items Listen and respond appropriately to patients Alert staff to any concerns or needs of the patientAssist staff with additional miscellaneous tasks

Role of the Volunteer - The Surgery Lounge Volunteer assists the Orthopedic, Spine & Pain (OSP) staff in the care of patients and guests.

We currently have an opening every other Wed. 7:30am-11am and every other Fri. 7:30am-11am!

Hospitality

Provide a comfortable atmosphere for guests of patients who are having procedures. Provide patient and visitor information and directions. Provide patient transport within volunteer guidelines. Maintain coffee service and offer refreshments to those in the lounge area. Maintain a neat and orderly appearance to the Volunteer Desk and lounge area.

Patient/Visitor support

Escort or direct guests to the consultation rooms or lounge area. Provide directions and general information regarding OSP wayfinding.

Staff support

Assist staff in locating guests in the lounge area. Receive calls from nursing to assist with bringing families back to peri-op rooms, consult rooms, and escort to in-patient area as needed.

Role of the Volunteer

 Patient/Visitor support

Greets Orthopedic, Spine & Pain (OSP) visitors and provides directions and general information. Provide way-finding and escorts patients and visitors in a safe, prompt and efficient manner. Transport patients by wheelchair to and from various areas at OSP. Monitor lobby for patients needing assistance or in distress.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk long distances within the facility. Ability to hear conversation and overhead paging at a normal range. Ability to guide patients in and out of wheelchairs. Ability to push/pull force of 40lbs.

The Endoscopy Volunteer assists the in the care of their patients and guests at the Encircle Health Endoscopy Department.  

We currently have openings on Fridays from 7:30am - 11am! 

Some duties include:

Provide a comfortable atmosphere for guests of patients who are having endoscopy procedures. Maintain coffee service and offer refreshments to those in waiting area. Maintain a neat and orderly appearance to the Volunteer Desk and waiting room. Escort or direct guests to the consultation rooms or recovery area. Assist staff in locating guests in the waiting room. Provide directions and general information regarding the Endoscopy Center. Provide wheelchair transport for patients at time of discharge. NOTE: A volunteer may only guide, but cannot lift a patient in or out of a wheelchair.

Assist staff in taking care of patients and loved ones throughout the duration of their appointments at the Regional Cancer Center.

Some duties include:

Greet patients and visitors and offer hospitality services including beverages and snacks. Provide patient and visitor information and directions. Offer patient transports (wheelchair) or escorts to areas throughout the cancer center and at times, Encircle Health. Maintain neatness in the waiting area. Provide refreshments (lunches), popcorn and goodies (from the Care Cart) to the patients in the infusion room. Stock blanket warmers, and distribute warm blankets to patients upon request. Refill stock in refreshment areas in the infusion pods. Assemble patient education materials. Transport lab specimens or other clinical items. Support the RCC staff with miscellaneous tasks. A Pet Therapy Volunteer brings their Certified Therapy Dog to the hospital to provide comfort and care to patients, visitors and staff.
