Needs From: Get Connected - Volunteer Fox Cities

Volunteer: JA Finance Park Volunteer - Help students understand budgeting!

The JA Finance Park program teaches financial literacy to students in grades 7th-12th. They complete 12 lessons in the classroom at school prior to their visit with us where they will put their learning to the test in our budgeting simulation. This program teaches essential skills in personal finance that lead to a lifetime of financial peace.

We need volunteers to work with a small group of students for the day, leading discussions and sharing your personal experiences. Students receive a life scenario, income, and credit rating with which they apply for loans, create a budget, and then try to live within that budget. Students gain a lot of eye-opening knowledge about how much things cost and how to live within their means. This is a great opportunity to facilitate hands on learning and ideal for anyone with a passion for financial literacy that enjoys working with students. Training is provided each day prior to student arrival.

We need 12 volunteers each day that students are on site. This is a one-day opportunity with many dates in the 24-25 school year to choose from.

Contact ssniegowski@jawis.org to sign up or for more information.

Volunteer: JA BizTown Volunteer - Have fun a make an impact!

Volunteer at JA BizTown to support and inspire students as they develop skills related to financial literacy, community, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.

JA BizTown is an onsite learning experience for 4th-6th graders that makes them an adult for the day as they work through a community and economic simulation. Located on the FVTC campus in Appleton, JA BizTown gives students a place to put their classroom learning to the test. They get off the bus ready to run the town for the day and will operate a credit union, restaurant, city hall, media center, manufacturer, retail store and several other businesses with the goal of managing their personal finances and helping their business be successful. They will work hard as a citizen of BizTown in the morning and have some free time to go shopping  in the afternoon, giving them invaluable "real-world" experience.

As a JA BizTown volunteer you will be assigned to a business where you will support a small group of students/employees through their day at JA BizTown. Your role is to step back and empower them to shine in their jobs for the day. You will help kids stay on task while they do all the necessary work to make their business run smoothly. Training to support you in your volunteer role is provided the morning of the simulation as well as online prior to your arrival.

Be sure to watch this video about JA BizTown : JA BizTown Video . The video gives you a good idea of what your day will look like while you are here at our Experiential Learning Center.

We need 12-24 volunteers each day students are onsite. This is a one-day, 5.5 hour opportunity with many dates in the 24-25 schoolyear to choose from.

Volunteer: JA Classroom Volunteer - Inspire K-12 Students!

Be A Game Changer! Junior Achievement is looking for volunteers to go into Kindergarten - High School classrooms to teach students about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work readiness. Opportunity details: The commitment is teaching 5-7, 30–45-minute classes. This can be one class a week, one class each day for a week, or 3 classes one week and 2 the next week. Teachers are flexible and willing to work with your schedule. Teachers remain in the room and are there to support you. JA programs come in a kit that includes everything you need to teach the class.
JA program guides are easy to follow with many hands-on grade appropriate games and activities to keep the students engaged. All new volunteers attend a virtual or in-person training session which will provide you with tips on teaching your JA program. Why should you become a JA Volunteer: You can help students make a connection between what they learn in the classroom and what they need to succeed in work life. The students will make you smile – you get WAY more than you give! The students LOVE JA! We work with schools all over the area and you can choose one near you. There are lots of opportunities for the 24-25 school year.  For more information or to get involved, please contact: Kristine Kolb kkolb@jawis.org or Jill Henshaw jhenshaw@jawis.org
