This is a special announcement for all men aged 15 years to !

Our annual concert season typically takes place in April and May. We will still perform at events during the summer: Memorial Day ceremony at the end of the Appleton Parade; Symphony Under the Stars at the ballpark; Bike to the Beat in Kimberly; and more. All male singers are welcome to visit with us at any of these events to discuss membership. Otherwise, our annual Season Opener / New Member recruitment picnic is August 31st, 2026, to begin the 2026-7 season.

For MacDowell new members, our Director holds Voice Placement sessions from 6:45 to 7:00 pm before the regular Monday rehearsals. Tryouts are no-stress; you don’t need to prepare beforehand. This meeting allows the conductor to determine your vocal range. The two of you will decide your voice: 1st tenor, 2nd tenor, baritone, or bass. The only skill requirement is the ability to carry a tune. You are welcome to learn music by ear or by reading music. Sheet music is provided to all members, and recordings are made available for home practicing.

We rehearse every Monday evening after Labor Day, starting at 7:00 P.M. in the Appleton St. Francis Xavier High School chorus room. The year concludes with the annual business meeting in mid-May, and we enjoy a short summer break.

MacDowell’s diverse membership spans a variety of musical experiences, with most members residing in the Fox Cities of Wisconsin, from Green Bay to Waupaca to Oshkosh to Whitelaw, and all communities in between. Although we hail from all walks of life, our common interests of camaraderie, community, and love of singing have made us a unified group for 93 years.

Ideally, new members join in the fall to prepare for the Spring Concert Season. However, we encourage interested candidates to attend any rehearsal to learn the details of the chorus. If joining later in the year, they may be non-performing members to become full-performing members the following season.

Position Summary: 
We are looking for friendly, dependable volunteers to welcome visitors at the shared United Way Fox Cities (UWFC) and Volunteer Fox Cities (VFC) front desk. This role helps visitors feel welcome and supports day-to-day office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet and assist all visitors in a warm and professional manner.

Ask visitors to sign in and out.

Help visitors find meeting rooms and restrooms and offer hospitality.

Direct questions about services or volunteer opportunities to the right staff person or resource. Training will be provided.

Keep the front desk and lobby neat and organized.

Help with simple office tasks as needed, such as filing, mailings, or data entry (based on volunteer skillsets). 

Accept deliveries and donation drop-offs. 

Qualifications:

Friendly, dependable, and welcoming.

Comfortable talking with visitors and staff.

Able to keep information private.

Comfortable using basic office technology, including email, typing, and simple data entry, preferred.

Schedule: Office hours are Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Shifts will be based on volunteer availability and may be shared by several volunteers.

This position is an all-volunteer position and does not earn pay or benefits. However, it is a great fit for the AmeriCorps Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) which provides mileage reimbursement and supplemental insurance, as well as educational and recognition opportunities. Do you love sharing music with others?  If you've got a musical talent that you'd like to share with our hospice patients, we'd love to chat!  We've got many opportunities to provide musical enjoyment during visits with patients within ThedaCare's facilities, patient homes, or within many facilities throughout our ThedaCare service area.  

If you're a hairstylist and you'd like to be able to use your cutting and styling hair talents to support in-home hospice patients, we'd love to share more about this opportunity! We have patients who request haircuts; sometimes, the filing and painting of nails; especially when it's difficult for them to leave their home. Your services would be helping to restore dignity and a sense of normalcy during a period of profound transition in their lives.

Represents Community Benefit Tree Inc. by helping increase awareness of programs, events, and mission impact through outreach, social media, community engagement, and local partnerships. Supports efforts to connect individuals and families to services, volunteer opportunities, and community support events.

Want to make a positive impact on the lives of people with hearing loss? 

We are seeking technical support ASAP for:

Assisting with the Hybrid/Zoom system during our monthly meetings at the DJ Bordini Center in Appleton. We need Tech support on the 2nd Monday of most months from 5:15-4:45pm for 8 months out of the year. 2026 meeting dates can be found on the poster listing on our website at:

We need someone to start up the hybrid system before each meeting and remain at the computer during the meeting to ensure the tech is working properly, load files from flash drives, monitor those on Zoom, and troubleshoot if there are any issues. Must be comfortable with a computer and hybrid meeting environment. Familiarity with hosting Zoom meetings and hybrid conference systems beneficial but not required; we can train you. We’re looking for two volunteers to help facilitate our weekly Storytime for Everyone program! Each week, the Neenah Public Library visits Valley VNA with their youth librarian, Storytime kids, their families and our Residents for a fun, interactive hour of reading, playing and connection.

Volunteer responsibilities include:
-- Setting up the room (arranging tables and chairs)
-- Greeting and engaging with participants
-- Running a PowerPoint presentation for the librarian
-- Resetting the room after the event

After Storytime, families enjoy time to play and connect. The total time commitment is two hours, from 9:30–11:30 a.m. on Tuesday mornings (with the main program running 10–11 a.m.).

If you have expertise repairing common household items, we could use your help! The library and community members are starting at Fix-It Clinic which will be held three or four times per year with the next one occurring in October. At this clinic, the community is encouraged to bring in their household items for repair. Our team of volunteer experts will fix the items for them, showing them the process and troubleshooting steps along the way.

We are currently in need of a volunteer with expertise in repairing watches!

Valley VNA is seeking a volunteer to assist with painting projects both inside and outside of our facility. This includes painting interior walls as well as outdoor trim and pillars. Your time and effort will help brighten the space for residents and staff alike!

Girls Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes is seeking troop leaders for many schools, grades, and communities throughout the Fox cities, Oshkosh, Waupaca and surrounding areas. Troop Leaders plan and implement activities and mentor girls.  Troops typically meet 1-2 times per month though out the school year.  Meeting time and locations are flexible and can be customized based on volunteer's schedules.  We have many girls who would love to join a troop, and are just waiting for a leader to step forward!

We are looking for a sweet therapy dog who you think would do well with visiting with our hospice patients. Under our pet therapy program, your specially trained dog would be able to provide companionship to our patients. Pet companionship can bring our patients a sense of peace, comfort and trust.

Dog temperament requirements:

Pet therapy volunteer program requirements: Owner must complete patient volunteer orientation.

Pet and owner must be registered with a nationally recognized animal organization (see below). Acceptable Therapy Dog Registration Organizations: Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Inc, Pet Partners, and Therapy Dogs International.

We are seeking a new leader for our Y-Not Chorus Group. The Y-Not Chorus is a group comprised of senior adults all with various singing abilities that want to share their love of music with others. Their main purpose is to bring joy to those is assisted living environments by providing musical performances. The group typically practices on Friday's at Gloria Dei Church in Neenah, with various performances throughout the year, especially during the holidays.

The leader of this group would be in charge of conducting, working with the pianist to choose musical selections, as well as working with the rest of the group to determine schedule and performance dates. Binder of sheet music and lyrics provided. Currently, the group practices and performs mainly in Neenah, with various performances throughout the Fox Valley.
