Who We Are

ABOUT SCORE FOX CITIES

SCORE Fox Cities is one of the most active SCORE chapters in Wisconsin. We have a team of 32+ active volunteers that provide support and mentor clients on an on-going basis. Our mentors are knowledgeable, motivated, dedicated and committed to helping small businesses.

SCORE Fox Cities' chapter is located in Appleton and represents 8 counties – Calumet, Green Lake, Fond du Lac, Marquette, Outagamie, Waupaca, Waushara and Winnebago. In 2023, our mentors provided 1,708 client services to 298 clients, resulting in 69 new businesses starting and 173 jobs being created.

To support area entrepreneurs, we offer workshops, seminars and webinars, both online and in-person, throughout the year on a variety of current topics, such as market research, how to write a business plan, business finances and social media marketing.

Several of our volunteers host and manage our popular BIZTalk with SCORE radio show aired on WHBY Saturdays at 9am. This program gives the public an opportunity to talk with experienced entrepreneurs as well as business, legal, accounting, banking, insurance and computer service professionals.

At our monthly meetings, you will get to know our generous and interesting volunteers who want to give back to our community. Most of our volunteers provide one-on-one mentoring with our business clients. Client meetings are scheduled by the mentor and client based on a mutually agreed time and can be face-to-face, phone or online, allowing our volunteers great flexibility in scheduling. We also have volunteers who support functions in the day-to-day operations of the organization, as well as specialists who can offer their limited time and resources to guide or advise our clients on an ad hoc basis.

If you have a business background, either by owning or managing a business/organization, working in business related education or a corporation, and have skills and experience to help small businesses, SCORE is for you!

What We Do

ABOUT SCORE

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and has been mentoring small business owners for 60 years.

SCORE is a valuable network of 10,000+ volunteers who offer small business entrepreneurs confidential business mentoring services at no charge. SCORE volunteers have the knowledge, expertise and experience to help any small business owner get the help they need. Our dedicated volunteers represent over 3,000 years of experience across 62 industries. In 2023, volunteers donated over 4.5 million hours of expertise and advice over 285,014 mentoring sessions, resulting in the creation of 31,167 new small businesses and 152,115 total jobs!

SCORE also provides local workshops and events throughout the country to connect small business owners with the people and information they need to start, grow and maintain their businesses, as well as online workshops/webinars available 24/7. SCORE provides resources, templates and tools to assist entrepreneurs in developing plans needed to navigate their way to small business success.

Founded in 1964, SCORE is headquartered in Herndon, VA and has approximately 245 chapters throughout the United States and its territories.
