We host monthly evening meetings on the 2nd Monday of most months. Details about the specific timing, topic and presenter can be found in our monthly newsletter, at www.hlaawi.org/chapters, and on Facebook. Our meetings are done on a hybrid basis, virtually on Zoom and in person at the Bordini Center at 5 N Systems Drive in Appleton. We hope to see you at a future meeting! It helps to know you are not alone with the frustrations, fears and fatigue that hearing loss brings. If you can't attend in person, let us know you'd like to join our virtual meetings by sending a request to our email address at hlaafoxvalley@gmail.com We'll then forward you the link to register for the next meeting.
HLAA FVC publishes a monthly newsletter that contains information about monthly meetings, educational programs, and two chapter subgroups. It contains a wealth of information of interest to people who use hearing aids and/or cochlear implants or are considering them. Current and recent issues are posted on our web page. The newsletter is available on request by e-mail or by regular postal mail. Let us know how and where to send it. Subscribe at: hlaafoxvalley@gmail.com
HLAA FVC has two subgroups that meet outside regular chapter meetings. The Cochlear Implant (CI) Group is open to anyone with a cochlear implant and to those who are seeking firsthand information about them. This group meets virtually via Zoom on the 3rd Tuesday of alternating months. Send an email to hlaafoxvalley@gmail.com to request to join the CI subgroup meetings. H.O.P.E., which stands for “Hearing Other People’s Experiences”, is a discussion group that brings people together to talk about how hearing loss affects their lives. It is especially helpful to those who are early in their hearing loss journey. HOPE meets in conjunction with our regular chapter meetings, at the Bordini Center.
HLAA-FVC is organized and supported by volunteers. We need more of them. Currently, we are seeking volunteer assistance with technology management (hybrid meeting system and Zoom support as well as spreadsheet mailing list maintenance and mass email distribution), and newsletter support.
We outreach to thousands of people in the region who could benefit from the information we have to share. We’d like very much to change the ‘best kept secret’ of HLAA into a household name. Please let us know if you can help us get the word out. HLAA FVC has volunteers available to present to outside groups on request (we'd love to have more speakers join us). We can also provide in service training. Feel free to call on us. Send email with inquiry to: hlaafoxvalley@gmail.com
