Living Spirit Dementia Respite Center (First English Lutheran Church)

Health & Wellness

Mission: To be a place for people with mild to moderate dementia to enjoy four hours of fellowship and entertainment while their caregivers run errands, do business, or just relax, knowing that their loved one is spending time in a safe and supportive environment.
Living Spirit is a ministry of First English Lutheran Church. At Living Spirit we provide those living with dementia activities that feed mind, body, and spirit, including service projects, a nutritious lunch, and opportunities for spiritual reflection.
Together, we share in a community where people living with dementia are known for who they are, not for what they are no longer. We lift up their abilities – not their disabilities – so that they feel respected and relevant.
A typical day at Living Spirit includes music, arts and crafts, service projects, games, memory work, light exercise, and, most importantly, ongoing fellowship. Living Spirit is open Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day and includes morning coffee, a nutritious lunch, and many enjoyable activities.
Living Spirit is a place for shared social time, not a medical facility. Participants must be ambulatory (with the help of a walker or wheelchair if needed), able to toilet and feed themselves, and capable of meaningful social interaction with others.
