Who We Are

Here at the Outagamie County Mentoring Program, we work with the kids in the community who need us the most.

Our mission is to provide kids with adult mentors who will inspire and empower  them to succeed and make positive choices for their futures!

Volunteer Mentors...

  • Expose kids to new and positive experiences that enhance self-esteem & improve social skills
  • Listen without judgement and develop a trusting relationship
  • Serve as a role model and encourage positive decision-making
  • Spend a minimum of 4 hours each month with their mentee
  • Engage in positive activities and have fun!

Mentors are matched with kids based on common interests, personality, mentor's/child's needs/preferences and geographic location.  Mentors are provided with training, ongoing support, and the opportunity to attend several group outings with other mentor matches throughout the year.  All youth participate voluntarily in the mentoring program, along with parent or guardian approval.

 MENTORED YOUTH ARE...

*MORE LIKELY TO GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL*
*LESS LIKELY TO USE DRUGS AND ALCOHOL*
*SHOW IMPROVEMENT IN  SCHOOL ATTENDANCE, GRADES, AND BEHAVIOR*

Inspire - Empower - Mentor

What We Do

The Outagamie County Mentoring Program is a one-on-one mentoring program connecting youth ages 6-17 with adult mentors. The program is unique in that all youth have had contact with the Child Welfare or Youth Justice System and are referred for mentoring by county social workers. We have more than 30 youth on the waiting list. We ask mentors to meet with their mentees 4 to 8 hours each month for a minimum of six months. Training and support provided.
