Help keep the library looking its best!
Collection Tidy Volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming library by keeping our shelves neat, organized, and inviting for everyone who visits. This volunteer opportunity is perfect for individuals who enjoy working independently, have an eye for detail, and want to support the library's collections without regularly shelving materials.
Ages: 12 and older
Supervisor: Bethany Neuman
Shifts: Flexible Monday - Saturday; weekly when possible
Essential Position Functions:
- Pushing bookends into place to keep shelves supported.
- Bringing library materials forward ("edging") to create neat, browsable shelves.
- Looking behind shelves for materials that have fallen or been pushed back.
- Lightly dusting shelves as needed.
- Collecting items left on tables, chairs, or shelving areas and bringing them to the service desk for staff to check in or reshelve.
- Restocking staff-prepared Book Bundles.
- Checking that game cartridges are present in Nintendo Switch cases on shelf.
Available Collection Areas
Volunteers may work in one of the following collection areas:
- Adult Collections: Adult Fiction, Adult Nonfiction, and Adult Media
- Children's Collections: Board Books, Picture Books, Early Readers, Chapter Books, and Children's Nonfiction
- Teen Collections: Children's Fiction, Children's Graphic Novels, Teen Collections, and Children's & Teen Media
Requirements of Work:
- Lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs.
- Sign a liability waiver.
- Pass a background check.

Training Provided: The Library will meet with the volunteer as part of the orientating process. Forms and expectations will be gone over during the initial meeting.
