Appleton Public Library is seeking a volunteer who is bilingual Spanish/English or with conversational Spanish skills to provide help to people searching for a variety of career and employment related needs. Volunteers meet with job seekers at a table close to a service desk to assist job seekers with building a resume, general career exploration and job searches.
Duties could include one or more of the following:
- Providing employment assistance, training and resources to people looking for work
- Teaching patrons how to set up accounts and use online resources for employment, training and education
- Finding resume templates and/or assisting with creating resumes
- Listening attentively and asking open-ended questions to help patrons identify and articulate job skills
Typical Qualifications
- Experience with hiring, computers, human services and/or job coaching especially helpful.
Passion for helping others in our community - Respect of individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and abilities
- Ability to provide friendly, patient instruction and assistance
- Proficiency with a variety of computer skills, including: navigating websites and search engines, Microsoft Office Suite, various internet browsers
- Able to work shifts for a minimum of 2 hours on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon (please inquire to learn specific times)
- Training will be provided
