Description

We hope you can soak up some summer sun this season AND think about how you can bring some of that light to children in need.

At CASA of the Fox Cities, we'll teach you how to advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. If you are a good communicator who wants good things for children, this could be an excellent opportunity to truly make an impact. No special experience is required. We provide initial and ongoing training and support.

As a CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocate, you will be part of a team of people advocating for the safety and well-being of youth and children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

You will do this by:

  • Learning about them
  • Spending time with them
  • Collaborating with others including social workers, attorneys, and direct service providers
  • Identify unmet needs or services that might be beneficial to the child
  • Provide written reports to the court on a regular basis

No special experience is required! We will train you and you will serve alongside a staff member throughout your advocacy.

One of the most important results of your service is laying the foundation for resilience. Your continued presence in their lives tells them they are worthy of your time and attention. This feeling of worth is the building block of resilience that will help them overcome adverse childhood experiences.

Statistics show that the presence of just one consistent adult helps children who have experienced trauma. Could you be that person?

The best way to discover if advocacy could be right for you is to check out our website and attend an information session. These one-hour sessions are held remotely via Zoom. You will learn about our organization, and things to consider about becoming an advocate including training, how much time you’ll need, and so on.

Contact Leah for a link to an information session, or to find something that works with your schedule. You can reach her at leah@casafc.org or 920-257-4733 ext. 107.

We only train advocates 4 times a year. Our next training session begins in July 2024. Join us! Together, we'll bring the light of resilience to children who are waiting for their advocate.
